Please join us in congratulating Justin Ridge as the APICS Charlotte volunteer of the year for the Chapter year that ended on June 30.  Justin is a Senior Materials Planner at Carrier Global in Charlotte and has been a member of APICS for the past three years.  After he joined APICS he quickly got involved in Chapter activities and has been on the Charlotte Board of Directors as Vice President of Membership for the past 2.5 years.  Justin has his CPIM certification and is working on his CSCP certification and says that APICS and Chapter involvement have been invaluable to his career.  He loves the field of supply chain, saying: “ What I love most about supply chain is the never ending avenues to learn and improve. Also, I love being able to take concepts and theory and applying them in practical ways to help me grow professionally and improve my work environment.”  Justin and his wife Sharon have two children—Olivia (9) and Emilia (6)—and live in Matthews.  Congratulations again, Justin!

Instructor of The Year—Carolyn Sly

Please join us in congratulating Carolyn Sly as the APICS Charlotte Instructor of the Year for the Chapter year that ended on June 30.  Carolyn has been a member of the APICS Charlotte Chapter since its inception in 1978 and has held many positions including President, Past President, and Vice President of Education.  Carolyn is currently the VP of Education for the Chapter and is our lead instructor with the APICS certification programs for CPIM and CSCP.  She has taught these courses for years and her students are above average in passing the challenging certification tests, which is a testament to her interactive teaching style, command of the topics, and years of experience in the field.   Carolyn is sought out by companies across the Charlotte area to do custom certification training programs and is frequently contacted by ASCM/APICS corporate for training opportunities across the country.  Aside from contributing many volunteer hours to the Chapter, Carolyn also participates in other non-profit activities such as the Salvation Army, Halo Now, Queen City Assisted Living and she tutors and mentors several children for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
